Bringing Life: Savings Groups
Vision for Goronogosa, Mozambique
I have worked with many savings groups since I’ve been here and love what they are doing. One of my favorite pastors, Pastor Rui, told me“, savings groups have brought life to us”. His savings group finished their third cycle in August. Over the last twelve months, they saved over $4000.00. In Gorongosa, where there are no banks, they have a secure place to save and have access to small loans.
As many remember from my painful email updates this spring, the program officially ended in April when our food security program ended. We have 37 groups consisting of 641 members in Gorongosa. And the demand for the groups still exists.
After much prayer, I’ve felt strongly I must try to continue. This is a bit unconventional and different request. I would like you to consider championing this program and help us by doing some leg work in our efforts to continue. Perhaps you may know how to organize events, or know of other avenues that could be used. We’re looking at a $31,000 task and you are free to be creative. I’ve attached more information regarding the proposed savings group program and how you can participate.
Please check the links below to learn details about what savings groups do and how you can help.
