LAURA HUNTER
This photo is taken on top of Cerro Gorongosa, Mozambique!
I arrived in Mozambique August 2006 and am currently working with savings groups in Gorongosa, one of the districts where FH works. I have enjoyed the challenge. With the recent funding we received, I will be working to help the groups and communities be able to take on forming new groups and supporting existing groups...with the goal of working FH out of of a job! I am excited to be able to integrate Biblical principles as well.
I grew up in Washington State. In 1994 I graduated from Western Washington University in Bellingham WA with a B.S. in Environmental Policy and Assessment with a minor in Spanish.
After college I went to Panama with Peace Corps to work in sustainable agriculture for two years. Currently I am working on my M.S. in Management/ International Development from Hope International University in Fullerton CA.
I enjoy lively conversations about Christian environmental stewardship, global missions and poverty issues. I enjoy running, hiking, mountain biking, salsa dancing, growing things, and hanging outside with my canine side-kick Jill (who is being taken care of by my awesome friends in GA).
I can not imagine a life without Christ. I grew up in a Christian home, but it was not until I was 12 years old that I understood the unfailing love the LORD had for me and that Jesus died for me. The loving and sacrificial work of Jesus on the cross became real to me and I accepted him as my savior.
I am blessed and humbled to be consider worthy of serving the Lord in Mozambique.
